How to Remove Raspberry Stains

Raspberries are a very popular berry to mix during summer picnics, in smoothies, or just part of a fruit salad. Removing raspberry stains is a skill worth knowing, since these bright fruits can ruin many substances if not treated properly.

Remove Raspberry Stains from Flooring

If you are trying to remove raspberry stains from carpets, wools, rayon, or fiberglass, then you should use a sponge which is wetted with cold water. You should lightly stroke the pad on the stain from the outward toward the center.

Once you have done this, you should sprinkle lemon juice on the sponge and apply it to the stained area. You can also cut lemon slices and rub then sides of the lemon over the stains.

Once this is done you should apply stain remover over the area to loosen the raspberry residue and rinse it with water.

After you have done this you should take a clean cloth and blot as much of the excess liquid as possible, then allow it to dry. Should the strain remain, you should use a wet spotter and cover the area with an absorbent pad.

You should leave that as long as necessary to remove the stain. As the pad picks up the stain, you should change it keeping the pads as well as the areas moist with the wet spotter.

Once this is done, flush the area with water. If there are any remaining traces of the raspberry stains then use a pre-stain product on the area.

Soak it and allow it to sit for thirty minutes. Once the stain has been lifted entirely, you can flush it with water and let it dry.

Remove Raspberry Stains from Fabrics

If you are trying to remove raspberry stains from spandex, acrylic fabrics, or polyester, then you should sponge the stained area immediately with cold water. Take a slice of lemon or place lemon juice on a sponge and blot it over the stain.

Once you have done this, flush the stained area with water, removing any excess liquid by blotting it with a clean cloth, then allowing it to dry. If you find that part of the stain remains, then you should soak the item with warm water, dishwashing detergent, and one tablespoon of white vinegar. Let this sit for fifteen minutes.

Once this time has passed, rinse the area with water and wash it as normal. Do not dry the item until the stain has been completely removed.

If you need to remove raspberry stains from acrylic, plastic, aluminum, asphalt, ceramic, glass, tile, enamel, grout, iron, paint, Plexiglas, porcelain dishes, stainless steel, or vinyl clothing then wipe up the raspberry stain with a cloth to remove excess spill.

Then take a sponge and soak it with warm sudsy water and apply it to the affected area. Rinse it well and wipe it dry until the stain is removed.

If you need to remove raspberry stains from slate, masonry tile, brick, concrete, flagstone, granite, or terrazzo, then you should wipe up any excess raspberry residue. Once this is done, wash the area with a mixture of detergent and water.

Use a soft-bristled brush or a soft cloth to wash the area and rinse it thoroughly using cold water. Once this is done, let it dry naturally.

If you need to remove raspberry stains from linoleum, vinyl tile, or cork, then you should mix water and detergent and use a cloth to scrub the area gently. Rinse it with cold water and let it sit.

If the stain remains once this is done, then you should mix one tablespoon of oxalic acid and water. Be sure to wear gloves if this is the method you are using because the acid is poisonous and can adversely affect your skin.

Rinse the area and wipe it dry. You can re-polish the surface if it is necessary.

Should you need to remove raspberry stains from cotton or linen, you should start by testing the fabric for colorfastness. If the color of the item does not change, then you can stretch the affected area on a flat surface.

Boiling water should be poured onto the surface from a height of two to three feet. If possible, avoid splattering. Do this procedure immediately.

Should the stain remain, then soak the solution with one quart of warm water and one half teaspoon of detergent for fifteen minutes. Rinse the area with cold water. Use a sponge dipped in rubbing alcohol to blot the stain and then wash as normal.

No matter what you are cleaning, be sure that you do not place an item in the dryer until the stain is completely removed.
