Remove Relish Stains From Fabric
What You Will Need Before You Start
-
Laundry pretreating spray or gel
-
White vinegar
Restore a baseball uniform to its pristine condition, or restore your t-shirts or dress shirts to excellent condition in no time at all. Relish, thankfully, is not as difficult to remove as some of the other favorite condiments like mustard and ketchup, which really does make a case for relish to be promoted to the country’s favorite relish!
-
Scrape off any relish that may be left on the fabric, if you don’t get rid of all chunks or pieces then you’ll be left with a gooey mess that just doesn’t allow the stain cleaning solution to work effectively.
-
Saturate the relish stain with your preferred brand of laundry pretreating spray or gel. The majority of the pretreating solutions on the market today are equally as powerful, so it will ultimately depend on the type of solution that you just prefer or have handy in the laundry room.
-
Allow the solution to work into the fibers of the fabric, for up to fifteen minutes.
-
Rinse clean and run through your washing machine on a presoak cycle, with a cup of white vinegar.
-
Launder as per the care instructions on the tag.
Be sure that you don’t pop the garment into the dryer until you have made sure that the stain is no longer present. If the stain is lingering and proving to be stubborn then you can try treating it with a bit of ammonia blotted onto the stain.
Remove Relish Stains From Upholstered Surfaces
What You Will Need Before You Start
-
Liquid dish detergent
-
Ammonia
-
Clean white absorbent towels
-
Clean sponge, or clean rags
-
Baking soda
Save your favorite sofa or living room chair from a permanent relish stain when you use the following quick steps to remove relish stains. Even if the stain is a few hours old you’ll still have good success at effectively removing it, if you use the right cleaning tools.
-
Scrape off any excess relish from the upholstered surface. It might be best to use a teaspoon rather than paper towels; this will keep you from inadvertently grinding any of the relish into the fibers of the furniture.
-
Mix one teaspoon of ammonia with two tablespoons of liquid dish detergent.
-
Sponge the cleaning solution directly onto the stained surface and allow to set for up to fifteen minutes.
-
Blot at the stain with a clean sponge and cool water. Continue until you have effectively removed all of the suds and the stain has been removed.
-
Sponge again with cold water, and then blot dry using a white absorbent towel.
-
Once the area has dried thoroughly, sprinkle it with baking soda.
-
Allow the baking soda to set on the upholstered surface for up to fifteen minutes and then vacuum up with the upholstery attachment on your vacuum cleaner.
The baking soda will help to remove any linger odors from the relish. You can also use some of the other odor covering products on the market but baking soda is one of the better choices because it won’t just mask the scent, it’ll actually help to lift it out of the fabric.
