What You Will Need Before You Start
- White towel or rag
- Clean sponge or cleaning rag
- Rubbing alcohol
Silk can be beautiful to wear, and can make you feel incredibly dressed up. Splurging on a silk tie or shirt almost guarantees that you are going to need to remove some sort of stain from it, at some point in time. Thankfully it is fairly simple to remove tabasco sauce stains from silk, but if you feel at all daunted about treating silk then you should be sure to take it to the cleaners and point the stain out to them so they can work on it for you.
- Use a clean white towel or paper towels to blot up as much of the spill as possible.
- Place the silk garment onto a flat surface, with a white absorbent towel underneath it to prevent color bleeds.
- Dab a bit of rubbing alcohol onto a clean sponge, rag, or even a cotton swab, and blot at the stain, starting from the outermost area of the stain.
- Continue to work at the stain, in a circular fashion, until the stain has been lifted out of the silk.
Once the stain has been removed, you can launder the silk garment as per the recommended guidelines. Silk is incredibly delicate so it is best to always follow the recommended care instructions on the tags that accompany silk garments.
Remove Tabasco Sauce Stain From Cotton
What You Will Need Before You Start
- White vinegar
- Liquid dish detergent
- Baking soda
- White absorbent towel
Don’t give up hope if you’re now facing the need to remove tabasco sauce stains from your white or other light-colored cotton shirt. Tabasco may add a bit of fire to your food but it doesn’t need to leave you hot under the collar.
- Blot up as much of the excess liquid from the stain as possible, if the stain is fresh, using a white towel or even paper towels.
- Place a towel on a flat surface, like your kitchen counter, and lay the stained garment on top of it. This is to prevent accidental color bleeds.
- Make a paste out of baking soda and liquid dish detergent. The paste should have the same consistency as a toothpaste.
- Apply the cleansing paste directly to the tabasco stain, using your fingers to carefully apply it.
- Allow the cleansing paste to sit on the stained fabric for up to fifteen minutes and then rinse clear.
- Fill your kitchen sink with cold water and add a cup of white vinegar.
- Soak the garment in the white vinegar for up to twenty minutes and then rinse clear; carefully observing the stain.
If the stain is still visible then you can use a bit of rubbing alcohol blotted onto the stain to remove the rest of it. If however the stain has been thoroughly lifted out, you can launder your garment as per usual. Just be sure to double-check that the stain really is gone before you pop it into the dryer.
