How To Remove Walnut Tree Stains From Concrete Surfaces

What you will need:

  • Eye protection
  • Rubber Gloves
  • Rubber Boots
  • Granular Chlorine
  • Hot Water
  • Dish detergent
  • Borax
  • Scrub brush
  • Concrete sealer
  1. You will need to put on all of the protective gear and leave it all on for the duration of the cleaning process. Chlorine can be a harsh product and can cause serious damage to your body.
  2. Wet the entire concrete area that is affected by the walnut tree stains with hot water.
  3. Cover the areas of the concrete that are affected by the walnut tree stains with granular chlorine.  Note: You do not need a ton of granular chlorine; just enough to make sure that the area is covered completely.
  4. Mist the granular chlorine with a light layer of water simply to dampen it and create a more thorough covering of chlorine to the concrete areas that you are learning how to remove walnut tree stains from.
  5. Wait for approximately five minutes for the chlorine to lift the stains.
  6. Pour one gallon of hot water in to a safe container and add a third of a cup of dish detergent and two thirds of a cup of borax
  7. Stir this mixture until complete combined.
  8. Pour mixture over stained areas and scrub areas with scrub brush for approximately two minutes.
  9. Rinse entire area completely and thoroughly.
  10. Allow area to completely dry.
  11. Assuming the stains are completely removed; you will then protect your concrete from further staining with the use of a concrete sealer.  

How To Remove Walnut Tree Stains From A Wood Patio

What you will need:

  • Pressure washer
  • Liquid detergent
  • Water
  • Scrub brush
  • Bleach
  1. You will need to take a pressure washer to the stained areas of your patio. NOTE: Do not put the pressure washer on high this will strip the wood. You will instead have the pressure washer on a lower, and fanned out setting and take a little more time to go over the stains to remove the black residue.
  2. You will mix water and liquid detergent in a bucket and scrub the areas that you are learning how to remove walnut stains from a patio for. 
  3. Using the scrub brush you will lightly scrub the stains.
  4. You will finish the process by diluting bleach in a bucket with water.
  5. Pour the mixture over the stains and let it sit for a couple of minutes.
  6. Rinse the entire area completely.
